SOKSINEWS.COMTwo central figures of the Indonesian Self-Employed Employees Organization (SOKSI) who are also Golkar Party politicians received appreciation from the Alumni Corps of the Greater Jakarta (KAHMI) Islamic Student Association (KAHMI), namely Akbar Tandjung and Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet).

Both of them are considered successful in reaping achievements in carrying out their mandate as Chair of the DPR RI in their day. In the National Leadership Council (DEPINAS) of SOKSI, Akbar Tandjung is now the Deputy Chairman of the Honorary Council, while Bamsoet has taken the position of Deputy General Chair.

Akbar Tandjung, humble political champ

Born with the name Djandji Akbar Zahiruddin Tandjung is one of the great politicians in Indonesia. He had a brilliant political career with the Golkar Party.

As evidence, one of the high points of Akbar's political career was when he occupied the chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives during the Megawati Soekarno Putri era. Akbar served from 1999 to 2004.

Akbar was born in Sibolga, North Sumatra on August 14, 1945. In his childhood he attended SR (People's School) Muhammadiyah, Sorkam, Central Tapanuli and at SR Nasrani, Medan.

Then he moved to Jakarta. It was in this city that he finished his junior and senior high school education. Akbar attended the Cikini Middle School and Kanisius High School. Continuing to study, he chose to study at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia.

Akbar's youth was spent participating in organizational activities. At the University of Indonesia, he was elected as Chairman of the Student Senate of the Faculty of Engineering in 1967-1968.

Other intra-campus organizational activities that he participated in include being a member of the University of Indonesia Student Council and the University of Indonesia Student Consultative Assembly.

In addition to intra-campus organizational activities, Akbar is also actively involved as a member of the Islamic Student Association (HMI), which is the oldest student organization in Indonesia.

In 1973, he co-founded the Indonesian Youth National Committee (KNPI), even in 1978-1981 he held the position of Chairman of the DPP KNPI.

Akbar's life, which has never been separated from the world of organization, made his steps steady to enter the world of politics. Akbar chose the Golkar Party as a shelter. Akbar's political career in the Golkar Party is quite brilliant. In 1983-1988 he was entrusted with the position of Deputy Secretary General of the Golkar DPP.

Then in 1998-2004 he served as Chairman of the DPP Golkar Party. Until 1999, the man who had served as the Minister of Youth and Sports in the Development Cabinet V was appointed as the Chairman of the DPR RI.

Now, the husband of Krisnina Maharani and the father of four children, Fitri Krisnawati, Karmia Krissanty, Triana Krisandini, and Sekar Krisnauli, are carrying out their duties as Deputy Chair of the DEPINAS SOKSI Honorary Council and Chair of the Golkar Party's DPP Advisory Council.

Bambang Soesatyo, from journalists to politics

Bambang Soesatyo, usually called Bamsoet or BS, was born in Jakarta, September 10, 1962. He grew up in a military family. Bambang completed his basic and higher education in the capital city of Jakarta.

He is listed as a student of SMA Negeri 14, Kramatjati, East Jakarta. At the age of 19, Bambang entered the Jayabaya Accounting Academy, Jakarta. Then he took a bachelor's degree at the Indonesian College of Economics, Jakarta. While his master's degree, he completed at IM Newport Indonesia, America.

Since being a student, Bambang has been actively involved in various organizations. Such as being the General Chair of the Jayabaya Accounting Academy Student Senate, General Chair of the Student Representative Body, Editor of the Jayabaya University Magazine, and General Chair of the Indonesian Private Higher Education Student Association.

Bambang Soesatyo is also the General Manager of the Jakarta Branch of HMI Magazine, Deputy Secretary of the Coordination of the HMI Commissariat of Jayabaya University, Deputy Secretary General of PB HMI, the Student Press Association, and General Chair of the Mapussy Indonesia Student Organization.

His professional career started as a journalist at the age of 23 years. Bambang was a journalist for the Prioritas General Daily and then moved to Vista Magazine. His career rose to become editor-in-chief of Info Bisnis magazine at the age of 29.

Eight years later, he became the commissioner of PT Suara Irama Indah. At its peak, in 2004, Bambang became the Director of PT. Suara Rakyat Pembangunan as well as the Editor in Chief of Suara Karya.

His career continued to crawl. In 2006, Bambang served as Independent Director of PT SIMA, Tbk, and a year later became director of Kodeco Timber.

Meanwhile, Bambang Soesatyo's involvement in the Golkar Party began in 1980 as an AMPI activist. In fact, he has been a candidate for a member of the legislature since the New Order. However, in the 2009 general election, he was elected as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

When he was a member of the DPR, he was seen as vocal when handling the Century Bank case. At that time, the DPR proposed the right to ask the president about the swelling disbursement of Century's bailout funds. Bambang is very vocal because he is one of the special committees of Bank Centrury.

In the next election, 2014, he was re-elected as a member of the 2014-2019 DPR. From his experience in the DPR, he was appointed by the Golkar Party to be the secretary of the Golkar Party Faction. While at the party he was appointed General Treasurer of the 2014-2016 Golkar Party DPP. In 2018, he became the chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives replacing Setya Novanto who stumbled upon the E-KTP corruption case.
